SUBJECT: January 2022 Edition

Sunday, January 16, 2022

Join us for a General PTA Meeting on Thursday, January 20th at 5 pm.  This will be a virtual meeting.

During this meeting, we will be appointing a Nominating Committee for the 2022-2023 PTA Board.  We are looking for 5 volunteers and 1 alternate to serve as members.  The Nominating Committee acts as a neutral liaison between the current PTA board and the people who are interested in filling the positions that will be open next year.  Serving on the Nominating Committee is a short-term volunteer position, and does not require a lot of time.

If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, contact our volunteer coordinator.

In accordance with TX PTA guidelines for virtual meetings, we ask that you register to attend the meeting.

Here's everything you need to know:

* If you want to attend this meeting, you must register by 5 pm Wednesday, January 19th in order for the PTA to determine who is eligible to vote before the meeting starts.

* The meeting link will be emailed to you.

* You do not have to be a PTA member to attend, but paid PTA members are eligible to vote. If you would like to join the PTA, you can do so at www.baldwinpta.org.

Crossing Guard Needed

A crossing guard is needed to monitor the crosswalk on Meridian Park Blvd.  This is a City of Austin position, but in the meantime, volunteers are needed to help out.  If you are interested in volunteering or applying to become an official City of Austin Crossing Guard, please contact Mrs. Murray.

Until then, please continue to slow down and stop for our Bobcats as they use the crosswalks while arriving and leaving the school.

Senior Scholarship Committee Volunteers

Each year, the Baldwin PTA awards three (3) scholarships in the amount of $500 each to former Baldwin students. 1 or 2 volunteers from the PTA are needed to read and evaluate the submissions and assign a score to each candidate that will be used to calculate the winners. This should not take more than 1-2 hours of your time during the month of February. Please email Alexis Webster at scholarship@baldwinpta.org if you are interested in helping some college-bound Bobcats Thank you!

Spring Fundraiser Volunteers

Planning for our spring fundraiser has begun, and we are looking for volunteers to help with preparations for an online auction.  This is a great one-and-done volunteer opportunity.  Best of all - much of the work can be done from home!  If you are interested in helping out, email fundraising@baldwinpta.org.

The 2021-2022 Baldwin Scholarship is here! The Baldwin Elementary PTA seeks to recognize former Baldwin students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to education and their community. Each year, three (3) recipients are awarded a $500 scholarship for post-high school educational opportunities. All graduating seniors who attended Baldwin are welcome to apply. The deadline for scholarship submissions is January 28, 2022.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Sign up to buy HEB $100 gift card(s) on a monthly basis.

  • Give the PTA $100 (or more!)

  • Cards are like cash, valid for 3 years

  • Cards can be used at any HEB, Central Market & Central Market Café.  They can even be used at HEB gas stations!

  • Great news!  You can now use your HEB Gift Cards for Curbside or Home Delivery on the www.heb.com website.  Other third-party delivery services are not eligible to be paid for with HEB Gift Cards.
