Countdown to Summer!

This is the last issue of the ROAR for the 2022-2023 school year.  We want to make sure we send you off with plenty of helpful information so you can enjoy the summer and be ready for next school year.  Be sure to read through the entire issue, so you don't miss anything!  Thanks Bobcats!

Baxter the Bobcat needs your help in preparing for the 2022-2023 school year.  Please register your student(s) as soon as possible.  By registering now, you can help our school.  Teachers & other staff are allocated to our campus according to enrollment numbers.  Help us make sure we have the right number of teachers when August rolls around!  You can register by visiting your AISD Parent Portal.

Join us for our next General Meeting, held Thursday, May 19th at 5:30 pm.  We will be meeting in the Library.  During this meeting, we will be celebrating this year's accomplishments and voting on the proposed 2022-2023 budget.  The PTA will provide tacos.

It has been a while since many of us have been inside the school.  After the meeting, we hope you will join us for student-led tours around the school.

Did you know we can support our teachers and support staff with their professional development?  The school is given a small budget for these conferences; so, most often, the expenses are out-of-pocket for our teachers and staff.  Imagine what kind of tools they can bring back to benefit all our teachers and students!  The Grants for Growth program is designed to crowdsource funds to assist staff in paying for valuable training.  This is a great way to not only support your teacher but our whole Bobcat community!

Please consider supporting our current requests for Ms. Hively and Ms. Wingate.  You can donate as little as $10 and help them reach their goal.

Summer break is almost here! Summer means lots of time outdoors, fun in the sun, and water fun. Please remind your Baldwin Bobcats to fuel their bodies with healthy foods and water. Many yummy foods include water to help hydrate the body, such as watermelon, peaches, cucumbers, and zucchini. Please also remember to keep your kids active over the summer break, but be safe! Wear a helmet while biking, skateboarding, or scootering, apply sunscreen daily and often when outdoors, and be safe in water activities by ensuring an adult is with a child during swimming activities. Enjoy the summer break - make the healthy choice, the easy choice!

Pre-Order School Supplies

Save time.  Avoid the crowds and pre-order your 2022-2023 school supplies.  School supply kits are on sale now through July 12, 2022.  You can order by visiting Sprout's website and enter our school code BES001 to find Baldwin's lists.  Be sure to order for the grade your student will be in NEXT school year!  Pick-up details will be shared at a later date.

Stay Connected!

Like you, the ROAR e-newsletter is taking the summer off.  That doesn't mean you can't stay informed.  Be sure to follow our social media so you can get any Bobcat news over the summer - including Kinder Playdates and pre-ordering school supplies.  Our grade-level pages are a great place for parents to interact and ask questions!  The pages rise with your student, so if you are already a member of your grade level page no need to join again.  Feel free to share with new Baldwin Families!

Senior Walk

Attention Baldwin High School Seniors: Join us in your caps and gowns as we celebrate your hard work and accomplishments in our annual Senior Walk.

Thank you to all of the volunteers that shared their knowledge, creativity, and most importantly their time!  PTA's are powered by volunteers, and Baldwin PTA is no exception!  Whether you are a board member, committee chair, room parent, donated supplies/materials, or someone who shows up when we need you, thanks for making 2022-2023 a great year!  We can't do it without you!

Want to get involved, but not sure how?  Check out some of our open committee positions in the Help Wanted section below.

Financial Reconciliation Committee Volunteers

We need three or more members to volunteer and complete an annual financial reconciliation of all financial transactions for the 2021-2022 school year.  This will ensure that expenditures are properly documented and conform to the approved budget and the PTA's governing documents. The committee usually meets 2-3 times over a two-week period during the summer, for a total of about 5 hours.  Interested? Email treasurer@baldwinpta.org

Baldwin Botcats 2022-2023 (LEGO Robotics Team)

The Baldwin Botcats Lego Robotics Team is looking for co-coaches for the 2022-2023 season! Are you interested in helping students build robots, program missions, and compete at a robotics tournament? If so, please contact Baldwinbots@gmail.com for more information.

2022-2023 ROAR Newsletter Coordinator

We need a volunteer to collect information for upcoming school and PTA events and compile them in our monthly e-newsletter. Content is provided by individuals using a Google Form. This is a great volunteer opportunity that can be done from home and requires 1-2 hours/month.  Interested? Email volunteer@baldwinpta.org

2022-2023 Webmaster

We are looking for a volunteer to manage our website and email forwarding system.   Most website and email updates are made at the beginning of the school year, with occasional programming or online store updates.  After the start of the year, volunteers can expect no more than an hour/week.   No special skills are required.  Interested? Email volunteer@baldwinpta.org

The online Spirit Shop will be open until 3 pm, Monday, May 23.  It is your last chance to purchase spirit wear for the school year.  The store will reopen in August.

Update on 3/4-sleeve YS t-shirts:  Due to the continued delays in receiving the shirts, we have decided to cancel the order for the remaining youth small t-shirts.  If you ordered one and have not received it, Baldwin PTA will issue a refund.  Please email president@baldwinpta.org with your mailing address and we will send a check as soon as possible.  We apologize for the inconvenience.
