SUBJECT: April 2022 Edition

Sunday, April 17, 2022

Every spring is a busy one and we have a lot to share.  Be sure to read all the way through this month's ROAR, so you don't miss anything!

Thank You Volunteers!!!!

The week of April 18 is School Volunteer Appreciation Week!  Our PTA is powered by volunteers who share their creativity, talent, knowledge, energy, and most importantly their time.  We could not do all the great things we do for our students, teachers, and staff without our volunteers!  Thank you for all you do!

Each year Baldwin PTA, with the help of our generous donors and volunteers, works to support our school.  Below are just some of the ways we have supported our school this year.  Whether you donate your time or your pocketbook, we could not do it without our community!  Thank you!  If you are interested in how you can help continue to support these efforts contact Emily Mirkin (president@baldwinpta.org).

Baxter the Bobcat needs your help! Registering for the 2022-2023 school year.  By registering now, you can help our school.  Teachers & other staff are allocated to our campus according to enrollment numbers.  Help us make sure we have the right number of teachers when August rolls around!  You can register by visiting your AISD Parent Portal.

Join us for our next General Meeting, held Thursday, April 21st at 5:30 pm.  This will be our first in-person meeting since January 2019!  We can't wait to see you all in the Library.  During this meeting, we will be voting on the 2022-2023 PTA Board and celebrating our Senior Scholarship Recipients.

After the meeting, we hope you will join us for Familly Fitness Night in the Cafeteria/Gym.

Did you know we can support our teachers and support staff with their professional development?  The school is given a small budget for these conferences; so, most often, the expenses are out-of-pocket for our teachers and staff.  Imagine what kind of tools they can bring back to benefit all our teachers and students!  The Grants for Growth program is designed to crowdsource funds to assist staff in paying for valuable training.  Please consider supporting our current requests.  This is a great way to not only support your teacher but our whole Bobcat community!

Support Ms. Hively's Request

This year, Ms. Hively has asked for your help in attending the TCEA Elementary Technology Conference, held in June 2022.  Each time she has attended this conference, she has returned with new tools, strategies, and resources to share with her colleagues. This conference is helpful in learning efficient ways to deliver instruction and provide a variety of ways for students to demonstrate their learning - creating a rich educational experience.   To help support Ms. Hively's request, visit the link below and donate today!

Support Ms. Wingate's Request

Ms. Wingate has requested funds to attend Advanced Training in Collaborative & Proactive Solutions training.  This is a two-day virtual training to better manage concerning behavior.  Rather than focusing on negative behaviors (and modifying them), this training focuses on identifying challenging expectations students may struggle to meet and solve them.  Ms. Wingate hopes to return with new strategies to share with her colleagues.  To help support Ms. Wingate's request, visit the link below and donate today!

Questions?
Senior Walk

Attention Baldwin High School Seniors: Join us in your caps and gowns as we celebrate your hard work and accomplishments in our annual Senior Walk.

Incoming Kinder Playdate Coordinator

Are you enthusiastic about Baldwin Elementary?  Want to help our newest Bobcats (and their parents) make new friends?  Then you are a great fit for our Incoming Kinder Playdate Coordinator.

We need a volunteer to help coordinate multiple playdates throughout the 2022 summer for our newest Bobcats and organize a final "Kindergarten Kick-off" in August.  This is an easy volunteer opportunity since most of the work is done during the summer and you are finished after the First Day of School.  Interested?  Email volunteer@baldwinpta.org

2022-2023 ROAR Newsletter Coordinator

We need a volunteer for the 2022-2023 school year to compile our monthly e-newsletter, The ROAR. Content is provided by individuals using a Google Form. This is a great volunteer opportunity that can be done from home and requires 1-2 hours/month.  Interested? Email volunteer@baldwinpta.org

Financial Reconciliation Committee Volunteers

We need three or more members to volunteer and complete an annual financial reconciliation of all financial transactions for the 2021-2022 school year.  This will ensure that expenditures are properly documented and conform to the approved budget and the PTA's governing documents. The committee usually meets 2-3 times over a two-week period during the summer, for a total of about 5 hours.  Interested? Email president@baldwinpta.org

Baldwin Botcats 2022-2023 (LEGO Robotics Team)

The Baldwin Botcats Lego Robotics Team is looking for co-coaches for the 2022-2023 season! Are you interested in helping students build robots, program missions, and compete at a robotics tournament? If so, please contact Baldwinbots@gmail.com for more information.

Discontinuation of HEB Gift Card Fundraiser

Baldwin PTA was recently informed that Highland Park PTA will no longer coordinate the HEB Gift Card Program.  Highland Park PTA coordinated the program for multiple schools (including Baldwin PTA), so we could maximize our purchasing power and receive the maximum donation from HEB.  Due to low participation, they have made the decision to discontinue the program.  All participants have been notified of the program's end.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this fundraiser!

Spirit Day with Kona Ice

Join us on Tuesday, April 26 (right after school)!   The KONA ICE truck will be parked across the street from Baldwin. Enjoy an ice-cold treat and a portion of all purchases made will be donated to Baldwin Elementary!

  • Regular cup: $3
  • King Kona: $4
  • Souvenir Cup: $5*

*These cups can be brought back to the next KONA ICE Day for $3 refills, also can be brought back ANYTIME you see a KONA truck for $3 refills.
